Ryan Reynolds reflects on tribute to Rob Delaney’s late son in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’

         Ryan Reynolds and Rob Delaney.

When Rob Delaney's two-year-old son, Henry, died of a brain tumor in 2018, the tragedy occurred months before the actor's film "Deadpool 2" hit theaters.

Delaney portrays Peter in the franchise, a friend of Deadpool, played by Ryan Reynolds, who on Monday posted a statement on social media honoring Henry.

"There is more to @robdelaney than people understand. He is one of the most subversively humorous individuals I know. He is a gorgeous, sarcastic, and vulnerable writer. If you remained through the credits of Deadpool & Wolverine, you might notice a credit that says, 'For Henry Delaney.' "Henry was Rob's son," Reynolds stated in the article. "In 2018, Rob's son died of a brain tumor. "Just as we finished Deadpool 2."

"I've always kicked my own ass because I didn't place a tribute to Henry over the end credits of DP2," the actor said.

He noted that by including Henry's name in the credits for "Deadpool & Wolverine," "at long last, father and son are sharing the same screen."

Reynolds' first shot used an image from Delaney's best-selling book, "A Heart That Works," which relates the story of his son's love and sorrow.
