Ga Mantse orders markets and stores to close in preparation for the nationwide general cleaning exercise.

In support of the government's mandated National General Cleaning Days, which are set for July 10 and 11, 2026, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, has ordered all stores, marketplaces, and commercial institutions in Accra to close.

The directive is a component of initiatives to guarantee that as many people as possible participate in the national sanitation exercise, which aims to enhance environmental cleanliness, advance public health, and lower the risk of diseases linked to poor sanitation.

In order to enable merchants, business owners, and citizens to actively participate in cleaning their surroundings, the Ga Mantse states that companies operating within the capital are expected to halt regular commercial operations during the scheduled cleaning periods.

The National General Cleaning Days program is a component of the government's larger plan to improve sanitation standards nationwide and motivate local communities to share accountability for upholding hygienic and safe surroundings.

In cooperation with local government and sanitation organizations, residents are asked to perform tasks including sweeping streets, desilting gutters, gathering trash, and cleaning public areas.

In the sake of environmental sustainability and public health, the Ga Traditional Council has called on the people to support the exercise and abide by the mandate.

It is anticipated that authorities will offer more instructions on how the exercise will be carried out, including the precise times that business operations would be halted.

In an effort to make Accra and other parts of Ghana safer and cleaner for all citizens, the National General Cleaning Days are anticipated to unite government agencies, traditional authorities, companies, and local communities.
